Why Designers Need a Solid Contract

Design is subjective, and that's exactly why you need a bulletproof freelance contract. Without clear terms in place, you're vulnerable to endless revision requests, scope creep, and clients who don't understand the value of your creative work.

Many designers start projects with just a verbal agreement or a quick email. But when a client asks for "just one more revision" for the tenth time, or expects you to hand over source files that weren't included in the original deal, you'll wish you had everything documented from the start.

Our free designer agreement template addresses the unique challenges creative professionals face: revision limits, portfolio rights, source file ownership, kill fees, and the transfer of intellectual property upon payment. It's designed to protect your time, your work, and your income.

About Freelance Designer Agreements

A freelance designer agreement is a legally binding contract between a designer and their client that establishes the scope of creative work, deliverables, revision process, payment terms, and intellectual property rights. Unlike generic service contracts, a design agreement addresses the unique nature of creative work: the subjective quality of design, the iterative revision process, and the distinction between final deliverables and working files.
